What Florida Law Says About Your Windshield
Florida law prohibits insurers from applying a deductible to windshield replacement when you carry comprehensive coverage on a Florida auto insurance policy. Not a reduced deductible — none at all.
That means if your policy includes comprehensive coverage, a cracked or shattered windshield can be replaced with no out-of-pocket cost to you. You don't pay the first $500. You don't pay anything.
Most drivers in Southwest Florida have comprehensive coverage and don't realize this applies to them. They put off a repair for months, driving on a crack that spreads a little further every hot afternoon, because they assume it will cost them several hundred dollars.
It usually costs them nothing.
Do You Qualify?
You almost certainly do if all three are true:
✔ Your vehicle is insured on a Florida auto insurance policy
✔ That policy includes comprehensive coverage (sometimes listed as "other than collision")
✔ The damage isn't from something already excluded on your policy
Not sure whether you have comprehensive coverage? Most people aren't. Call us with your policy number and we'll check it for you in a few minutes. There's no cost and no obligation, and you'll know exactly where you stand before you decide anything.
You Choose the Shop. Not Your Insurance Company.
When you file a glass claim, your insurer may steer you toward a shop in their network. They may make it sound like that's your only option.
It isn't. Florida law gives you the right to choose who repairs your glass.
That matters more than it sounds. Network shops are chosen on price, and the difference shows up in the glass, the adhesive, and whether your ADAS camera gets properly recalibrated afterward. Your windshield is a structural part of your vehicle — it supports the roof in a rollover and it's what your passenger airbag deploys against. It's not the place to accept whoever bid lowest.
If you want A+ Auto Glass & Calibrations, say so. Your insurer has to honor it.

FAQ's Common Questions About Florida Windshield Claims
Q: Will filing a windshield claim raise my insurance rates?
Glass claims are comprehensive claims, not at-fault collision claims, and most insurers treat them differently as a result. Rate decisions are up to your individual carrier and policy, so if you're concerned, ask your agent directly before you file. We're glad to talk it through with you either way.
Q: Does the $0 deductible apply to chip repair too?
Yes. Repair and replacement are both covered. In many cases a chip caught early can be repaired instead of replaced, which is faster and keeps your original factory seal intact. Bring it in for a free in-shop diagnosis and we'll tell you honestly which one you need.
Q: What if my insurance is from another state?
The Florida law applies to Florida policies. If you're insured out of state, we can often get your deductible waived when a repair is possible instead of a full replacement. Call us and we'll look at your specific situation.
Q: Do I have to pay anything up front?
No. If you have comprehensive coverage on a Florida policy, there's nothing to pay — not before, not after.
Q: How long does it take?
Most windshield replacements take one to two hours. If your vehicle has an ADAS camera, add time for calibration, which we perform in-shop in a controlled environment. We're open seven days a week, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, and we have a customer workstation with high-speed internet and charging ports if you'd rather wait.
Q: Can you come to me?
We offer mobile service throughout Lee, Collier, and Hendry Counties. One caveat: if your vehicle needs ADAS calibration, that has to happen at our shop. Our Autel equipment uses infrared and laser measurement that doesn't read accurately outdoors. We'd rather tell you that up front than do it badly in a driveway.

Stop Driving on That Crack
It spreads. Florida heat and a cold blast of A/C is exactly how a two-inch chip becomes a windshield you have to replace anyway — and a crack in your line of sight can fail inspection and put you at risk.
If you have comprehensive coverage, this costs you nothing. Call, and we'll tell you within a few minutes exactly where you stand.
